When we are at our weakest point is when He does His very best work. Call upon His Name! #Blog

I was reminded today of this verse: 2 Corinthians 12:9,”And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness…”
With each passing year, I hear from more and more friends, relative and acquaintances that they are coming down with bizarre and completely unexpected illnesses…just out of the blue. Maybe this has happened in your life, or to your family as well.
Truly in these situations people oftentimes have no idea what to say, so they blurt out the first plausible thing that comes to them. “Stay strong.” “You’ll be fine.” “This too shall pass.”

From experience, I can tell you that when you are in the driver’s seat with a horrible disease, none of these things are comforting. Just tell someone you will be praying for them. That’s all you really need to say. And that’s the very best thing you could possibly do. Nobody is expecting you to be Shakespeare.

If you have reached a point in your life where you feel like you’re about to crack in half, like the next feather to hit your eyelash will make you shatter into a thousand tiny pieces…know that that is absolutely OK.
Sometimes it takes us getting to the very end of our human limitations to push us to a place where we completely surrender to God. I wish we weren’t so stubborn, but I’m certainly guilty of this on occasion myself. I want to do everything for myself. This way I don’t bother anyone else, and I know the job will get done to my satisfaction.

But God says to call upon him, to seek him with our whole hearts…to allow him to be our burden bearer. And we do the exact opposite. We carry tremendous loads we were never intended to carry.

So, if you are in a place right now where the load is heavy and the outlook is bleak from a human perspective….call upon his name. When we are at our weakest point is when he does his very best work.

Happy Friday Friends!

“Some days you get the bear. And some days the bear gets you.” #Blog

Have you ever taken a short cut, only to realize that it wasn’t really the best option after all? We thought we were really getting ahead, saving time, multi-tasking to the max…when all we were really doing was cheating ourselves.

1 Corinthians 15:58 says, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”

Sometimes we do get weary in well doing. We ALL do. It doesn’t matter if your neighbor looks like he never breaks a sweat. We all have difficult days. No one escapes them. But we have this promise:

Galatians 6:9, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. ”

Stay the course. Don’t give up. When giving up looks good (and there are times in everyone’s life that it does), take a break, get back up and hit it harder than ever.

The things in this life that are most worthwhile are the most difficult to obtain. The road of life that we travel is filled with challenge, tragedy, heartbreak….and ultimately triumph, if we faint not.

I have head this saying once: “Some days you get the bear. And some days the bear gets you.”

If today is the bear’s day, don’t admit defeat. Tomorrow WILL be better. The challenges we face can improve us or crush us…and the choice is ours alone.

Which will you choose today?

Happy Monday Friends,

I.A.M.G.R.A.T.E.F.U.L. #Blog

We are blessed to be a blessing. So many times we see people in need around us. It doesn’t take long to realize how very blessed we are. Richly, truly, blessed to the bone.

I am grateful for good health and the health of my children. I’m grateful for a warm house in the winter and a cool house in the heat of the Atlanta summer. I’m grateful that I have the ability live my life on purpose daily. I am thankful for my relationship with Christ. I’m thankful for a great job that I love, and the ability to go to work each day. I. Am. Grateful.

What are you thankful for today? Make a list. And make a list of the things you want to accomplish as well. Then in a few days, weeks, months, years…you can be thankful for what God has allowed you to accomplish. NOTHING is impossible!

Matthew 17:20, “So Jesus said to them, “…for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”

Nothing is impossible to those that believe! Write down your plan, and include blessing others in your outline. There is nothing more wonderful that being able to help someone less fortunate, someone who just needs a little pick-me-up, a nudge in the right direction. A card with a few dollars sent anonymously with the words, “God loves you” can go a very long way to healing a broken heart. A warm hug in the middle of a great lifetime tragedy, can break the chains that bind.

The results can often be life-changing. And when it’s left anonymously….God gets the glory.

I encourage you to do the same in your area. But we are indeed blessed beyond measure, and how wonderful to have the opportunity to share with others. May your day be filled with the love of the Lord, joy unspeakable and the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Happy Thursday!!

Good or bad, nothing lasts forever. #Blog

Are you walking through a painful valley right now? One where maybe you feel lost and alone with no clear answer in sight? I have this promise for you today:

Psalm 30:5, “For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”

Weeping may endure for a night, but JOY comes in the morning. Good or bad, nothing lasts forever. Thank God for that!

If you are walking through a painful season in your life right now, know that it will not last. If you will allow God to work in you and through you, you can use this as a time of personal growth. You can become completely refreshed by the Holy Spirit as you begin to allow God to lead you and guide you down the pathway toward something truly amazing, orchestrated by God Almighty.

Life can be excruciating, exhausting, painful. But isn’t it wonderful to know that his favor is for life? No matter how alone we feel, He is just a prayer away! We are never forgotten, never truly alone. If we can begin to barely grasp the depth of his true love for us…we are indeed wealthy beyond measure.

So, if today you feel like you are walking a lonely, treacherous, painful path, know that if you will give it to God, he will truly make a way where there seems to be no way. It might not come before 5:00 p.m. today, but he will make a way for you that is so extraordinary…when the light bulb comes on and his light shines over the answer he has for you…you will know without a doubt that he was there all along; no one else could have possibly provided you with an answer so filled with complete perfection!

Yay! Happy Friday!

This promise tells us that he delivers us out of how many afflictions? ALL of them!! YES!! ALL!! #Blog

Are you having a tough time with life right now? Maybe you feel like you’re giving it your all and yet it’s still not enough. Perhaps devastating tragedy has struck in your life and your heart is completely broken.

I have this promise for you today:

Psalm 34:17-19, “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.”

If you will cry out to him, he is as close as the mention of his name. There will never come a time when God does not hear the cries of his children. So, what are you waiting for?

This promise tells us that he delivers us out of how many afflictions? Out of all of them! ALL of them!!

And what does it say before that? MANY are the afflictions of the righteous. We talked before about how many people will tell you that the Christian life is problem-free. If you’re living for the Lord, then everything is smooth sailing. People who spew this brand of foolishness should come with a warning sign.

Nothing could be further from the truth. But this is how God is able to use us. When we walk through a valley ourselves…it gives us the opportunity to reach back and pick someone up who has fallen behind us along the same pathway in life. It gives us the chance to share the love of God with someone who probably really needs a shower of love, joy and peace.

This week I challenge you to help someone along life’s pathway….even if it’s a complete stranger. When we are focused on helping others we are no longer feeling sorry for ourselves. And a burden shared is lighter indeed.

Happy Thursday Friends!

But God sees it all. And he looks on our heart. #Blog

I have said many times that I love the Psalms. I’m a big fan of David’s. We have a lot in common. Not that I’m a giant slayer (not in the physical sense anyway), but I have made my own share of mistakes and been granted mercy on many occasions…for which I am tremendously grateful.

This is one of my favorite verses from David after he had once again been in a bad spot:

Psalm 51:10, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

I tell my girls all the time, specially Heidi (6yo) “Don’t worry about what others are doing around you. You are only responsible for your own words and your own actions.” It’s a hard lesson to comprehend as a child…and really not much easier as an adult when you feel like someone is really getting away with it; living the dream without really “earning” it. Watching people “cheat” their way to the top is never fun.

But God sees it all. And he looks on our heart.

So today, I ask God to give me a clean heart…a clean slate to start over once again. And let’s do this. Great things are ahead for each of us, but we can’t move forward until we clean out the clutter!

Happy Friday Friends!

God’s FAVOR is for life. Nothing and None one could ever change His Love for us! #Blog

The Bible says that it rains on the just and the unjust. I get so irritated when people say that if something bad is happening in your life…you must not be following God’s plan for your life. You must be doing something wrong. (I call that Legalism 101.)

Guess what ? God’s favor is for life. You don’t have a bad day and it just rinses off in the shower. Bad things do indeed happen to good people. Sometimes it’s because of our own foolish choices, and sometimes it is because of the choices others have made that directly affect us.

I love the promises that we find throughout Scripture that remind us that God is there with us every step of the way…no matter if it’s raining bullets on our day or drenching us in sunshine. He is there. He sees. And he WILL deliver us.

Psalm 91:14-16 says, ““Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.”

Happy Thursday Friends!
