Our words should demonstrate the power of God’s grace and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in our lives. There is Power of Every Word You Speak. Commit your speech and thoughts to The Lord. Make room for zero negativity in 2018. Do A Hard Reset On Your speech In 2018.

“You are the only one who can control the way you think. Make sure you nourish the positive thoughts, and weed out the negative ones!” – Catherine Pulsifer

Every day we speak countless words, often paying very little attention to the words themselves. However, it is important to realize that we are creating our world by the words that we speak. Proverbs 18:21 in The Amplified Bible says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].

I would like you to reflect on the kind of words you have been speaking. Are they negative words or positive words? Are they uplifting words or harsh words?

You may be wondering why things are not going well for you. Perhaps you need to put a watch over your lips. Perhaps you have created your situation by the words of your mouth. Proverbs 6:2 says, “Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.”

I have always endeavored to look on the positive side of things. Often when I am facing a challenging situation, my head wants to say, This can’t be done. However, I always allow my heart to speak a confession of faith, saying, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me.” (Phil. 4:13).

We need to be careful of the words we speak to our spouse, children, and loved ones. Our words can either hurt or heal. They can inspire or destroy. Too many times, we speak kindly to strangers, coworkers, or friends, but we speak harshly to our family.

Wives, it is very important to speak uplifting words to your husband as he leaves for work. He will meditate on those words for the rest of the day. The words you speak to him may determine whether he makes right or wrong decisions that day.

We should make it a practice to only allow faith-building, positive words to come forth from our mouth. I encourage you this day to put a watch over your words.

Are Death and life  in the power of the tongue? The faith teachers interpret this in a metaphysical sense instead of using a biblical interpretation. But this is not the whole Scripture, it goes on to say “And they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” In other words, what you sow to others you will reap.

Let’s read the whole portion of Scripture to gain the context. Prov. 18:19-21: ‘A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city, and contentions are like the bars of a castle.

A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth, from the produce of his lips he shall be filled.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” what they speak will come consequences – good or bad. Not because they control reality from their words but because what one says can affect others – words can hurt ones emotions or build them up. In fact this is the context as he starts with v.19 about a brother being offended.

The ultimate sense of Proverbs 18:21 was related to Solomon, the author who penned it. The verse can be attributed to Solomon being the king and in a practical sense he has the power to pronounce death or life (condemnation or pardon) over his subjects. In the same manner Pilate said when he spoke to Jesus he has the power of life and death. That his life was his decision As a ruler in authority, in a certain sense over sinful man he did but not over the Son of God.

Jesus affirmed that it is which comes out of the mouth, defiles a man. Not what goes in (as in eating food). Here again is the fruit from our speaking.

Let’s look at some of the Scriptures pertaining to our speaking.

Prov. 12:17-18: “He who speaks truth declares righteousness, But a false witness, deceit. There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, But the tongue of the wise promotes health.”

There are words that cut that are like a sword. The tongue can be uses as a poison or medicine. Just as James says but there is no evidence from the Scripture to believe any word spoken (good or evil) will come to pass because of any supernatural faith power contained in them. It is what the recipient makes of the words they hear. You can repeat a scripture over and over believing it but this does not mean it will take place, because there is still the will of God that controls things that will or will not happen. Power does not reside in the words we speak. We are to have understanding. Many people overcome ill words that were spoken to them. Many people believe something with their whole heart and it does not happen. What you believe that affects how you live. You can believe the truth or a lie. Believing in the truth will bring understanding.

Prov. 16:24: “Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.”

He is speaking metaphorically, they affect us emotionally or spiritually. If one has a bone deficiency they do not go to the doctor and ask him to speak pleasant words for their healing.

The fruit of our words can do good or harm emotionally just as our actions can affect someone physically

Matt 12:34-36 “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.” It’s not our words that have power to change circumstances and create as Jesus is pointing to our heart as the origin of these word. In other words is a man speaking what is righteous and true or unrighteous and false will affect others.

The passage is also about our spoken words affecting another person’s feelings, emotions (12:18,25; 16:24). What we speak affects people can affect their perceptions, even affect their circumstances. But nowhere does the Bible teach or mean that as believers we can speak things into existence. We need to look at a better explanation for this than to rely on those who want power. If this were true no faith teacher would be sick or die if life is in their tongue.

Friends, words are powerful. They can either bring life or destroy. Before you speak, please be cautious that your words don’t cause someone pain. I know we are human, and sometimes say things we don’t really mean, but you don’t know what someone is really going through. Learn to control your thoughts before they become words. This world is hard enough, please don’t make it even harder for someone. Let go of that petty drama stuff, and talk to one another like brothers and sisters. We have to do better at empowering each other with our words, building rather than destroying each other because our feelings were hurt. I encourage you to take a step back. Put yourself in their shoes. 9/10 someone treats you a certain way because they are dealing with their own secret battles. Be kind. Listen. Be gentle. Encourage. Suspend judgment. Be a reason someone smile today. You never know who could really need it. Spread more love, and let go of the bitterness. We are on this journey together, we have to do better helping each other heal instead of creating deeper wounds.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words. – Proverbs 18:21

Did you know that what you say about yourself has greater impact on you than anything anybody else says about you? Many people are overly critical of themselves, saying, “I’m so clumsy. I can’t do anything right.” “I’m so overweight. I’ll never get back into shape.” “I never get any good breaks.”

They may not realize it, but they are cursing their future. Those words sink into their minds. Before long, they develop a defeated mentality, low self-esteem and diminished confidence. Worse yet, those negative mindsets can interfere with God’s plan for their lives.

One of the best ways to break free from such strongholds is simply by speaking words of victory. Every day, look in the mirror and declare, “God’s Word says I am strong. God is fighting my battles for me. I’m excited about my future.”

Maybe you are lonely because you don’t have a lot of friends. Instead of complaining, start declaring, “God is bringing great people into my life. I know He loves me, so I can risk loving others.”

Speak blessings over your life, and as you do, you’ll go out with more confidence, you’ll be more congenial and, in turn, you will attract new friends.

When discouragement comes, instead of sitting back and accepting it, say, “No, I’m a victor and not a victim. I may have been defeated before, but the past is the past. This is a new day.”

It’s not enough just to think it; you need to hear it, because what we constantly hear ourselves saying we will eventually believe.

Some people live in a perpetual state of financial crisis. They can’t seem to pay their bills — always living “under their circumstances” and constantly speaking defeat.

If you are struggling financially, remind yourself repeatedly, “I am the head and I am not the tail. I will lend and I will not borrow. Everything I touch will prosper and succeed.”

Your words may not be the cause all of your problems, but they can cause a lot of them and they should be given a good deal of consideration when we are looking for answers to the problems we encounter in life.

Here’s an example of things we say that sounds harmless but is actually stopping God’s blessing in your life and cursing you:

I’m poor; I’m broke; I have no money

I have (name of disease), I’ll never get healed from it.

I’m ugly

I’m a failure

I’ll never find love

God doesn’t love me

My marriage is going to fail

I’m going to lose my job

I’m stupid

I’m a worrier

I’m sick and tired of _________.

By speaking these words, you’re claiming it to be so in your life – you’re decreeing and declaring brokenness.  Even if you are sick, don’t go around claiming it, instead say you’re healed.  Do this for every other negative thing in your life.  Remember words are seeds that can yield a good or bad harvest in your life –depending on what you speak.  The very essence of our being was spoken into existence by God.  Monitor what you speak.  Every time you want to speak negative, stop, ask God to change your heart and to renew your mind.  Then, fix your mouth to speak God’s blessings upon your life instead:

I’m more than a conquerors

I’m prosperous

By the strips of Jesus I am healed

My marriage is saved

My spouse and children are saved in Jesus name

I have God’s favor upon my life

I’m the head and not the tail

I have my career job in Jesus name

We all have challenges in life, but we can make them better or worse by the way we talk about them. I don’t believe we can change all of our circumstances into pleasant ones by making positive confessions, but I do believe many of them will change according to God’s will. I simply want to teach you to be in agreement with God and learn to say what He says.

We should make it a practice to only allow faith-building, positive words to come forth from our mouth. I encourage you this day to put a watch over your words.

Perhaps you have been moved by circumstances in your life. The enemy may be trying his best to deter you from accomplishing the will of God for your life. He may have already caused you to lose your joy. You may have even allowed thoughts such as Life is not worth living anymore to enter your mind. I admonish you to kick the devil out of your life with the words of your mouth. Know that “. . . greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4).

With the Greater One living on the inside of you, you cannot be defeated if you will not quit!

One thing is for sure, speaking negatively could hurt you and speaking positively never will, so why not go with the positive and see what kind of results you get?

Peter tells us, “In your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15). Let the power of our words be used of God to manifest the power of our faith. Be prepared to give the reason for why we love the Lord—at any time, to anyone. Our words should demonstrate the power of God’s grace and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in our lives. May God enable us to use our words as an instrument of His love and saving grace.

Prayer:

Heavenly father thank you.  Thank you Lord for your Word and blessings.  Father, I ask in the name of Jesus that you help me to speak life and not death.  Place a guard over my mouth in Jesus name that I may not speak anything that is in opposition of your word and promises I have through your Son Jesus Christ.  Father I plead the blood of Jesus against every idle word I’ve said that was negative –cancelling out its power.  From this day on I make a decision to speak your blessings upon my life and the life’s of others.  I thank you Lord that by your strength and with the leadership of the Holy Spirit I’m able to do this.  Father, I thank you in advance for the blessings your spending my way and I praise your holy name.  I receive your blessings and will decree and declare them daily.  These things I pray and ask, believing that their already done; in Jesus name, Amen.
