I hear so often these words…”Man, I can’t wait until this is over”…when referring to a current trial or hardship. And YES, certainly that is a human emotion we all share.
But for one moment…consider this. Where you are today, right this minute, has not taken God by surprise. If the steps of the righteous are ordered by the Lord, then you are right where HE wants you to be…or right where your foolish choices have taken you. (Not pointing fingers at all, as I have made some Grade A #1 bad choices in my lifetime to be sure.)
But no matter where you are…enjoy the journey. God can work in us and through us. But He can’t work THROUGH us until His work has been done IN us. If we don’t have enough of Him IN us…what will we share?
Everyone is happy and wonderful, completely satisfied on dry land when you’re enjoying the gorgeous sunset over the crystal blue waters. It’s when you’re drowning and looking for a life raft that He wants to know…what are you going to do? Are you going to learn how to be a better swimmer? Teach others around you how to swim? Or are you going to keep floundering about in the choppy water until you are once again safely placed on dry land?
It is only when we are truly facing life’s greatest tragedies and deepest pain that we can see the most beautiful portrait of God reflected on our lives…the perfect picture of his love, mercy and grace.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10, “And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
