Sometimes life is completely exhausting. On those days (or during those seasons of life), this is one of my favorite chapters:
Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
When exhaustion has sunk down to the bone, and you feel like you can’t even muster up enough energy to bat an eyelid…he says come to me and find rest for your weary soul.
I love that! For in our weakness he is strong.
Oftentimes in our society, when we show any sign of weakness it’s like the animal kingdom…you see people start to circle you and buzzards flying overhead. Some can’t wait for you to fail, while others gossip about you behind your back.
Isn’t it wonderful to know, that when life knocks us down…there is one place we can always turn for complete restoration?! A place of hope and healing that is only a whisper away…
His yoke is easy, and his burden is light.
