Lately I have heard a lot of, “Well, they should have…” “If it was me, I would have….” “Curse that person for not doing what they should…”
What these people are really saying is: I am interjecting myself into a situation that has NOTHING to do with me or my life. I am giving unsolicited advice to a third party on something that doesn’t even remotely concern me. I’m talking about someone else without having walked in their shoes. And what I am doing is not honoring God or edifying anyone who is actually involved.
And I keep coming across this verse:
Galatians 6:7, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”
The Bible also has several things to say about blessings and curses, reaping and sowing. Too much to put in one morning devotional, but basically….blessings and favor are freely available to ALL (whether it’s someone you like or not). Don’t lose out on your own blessing because you are so busy trying to “curse” someone else. God ALWAYS has the last word.
Scripturally, if you send out a curse to someone who is undeserving (and God makes that call), then the curse comes back to you. This is why the Bible tells us to choose our words wisely.
So, if someone is trying to lay curses on you, or torment you, this is why it is always the very best move to take it directly to the throne room of grace. Because that curse (or whatever was sent your way in ill will) will ricochet right off of you like a Teflon pan and go right back to the party who meant you harm.
Our God is will not be mocked.
May your day be filled with grace. May your words be filled with his love. And may your blessings be bountiful as you enjoy the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
