What I mean is…so, you have a problem. Really…who doesn’t? (And I’m not trying to be demeaning or diminish the tragedy or pain in any way.) What I’m saying is…when you’re faced with a problem, how do you handle it? Do you face it head-on, or are your actions self-defeating? We talk about the Israelites walking around Mt. Sinai for years, but are we doing the exact same thing in our own lives?
Let’s use the ladies as an example today. Ladies, when you look at your reflection in a full-length mirror as you put on your best blue jeans…you might think, “WOW! My backside looks way too big for these skinny jeans!” What do you do? Do you:
a. Wear the jeans anyway and just lament all day long about how much weight you have gained this year, beating yourself up all day long. The joy from your day is gone because you’re so upset with yourself that your jeans from 1975 don’t still fit.
b. Do you grab that extra box of donuts on the way out the door and seize the day? What the heck! My jeans don’t fit anyway!
c. Maybe you go all out and put together a lifestyle plan to eat healthier and work out a little.
d. Perhaps you squeeze in a trip to a local store and buy some bigger jeans and don’t worry about it. Life is short! You’re healthy and lovin’ the curves. Who cares if you don’t still wear the same size you enjoyed as a prepubescent tween?!
OK. It’s humorous, but you get the point. There are a few options that are good ones, things that will just move you through the problem, allowing you to get on with your day. Other options are self-defeating.
So…today, are you going to be a part of the problem or a part of the solution?
John 10:10, “…I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
