The power of PRAYER ~

The power of PRAYER ~

This year one of the big themes that keeps hitting me (as I’ve mentioned before) is FOCUS. I think our normal tendency as human beings is to hurry and rush about so we can cram as many things into the day as possible. But what would happen if we slowed down just a bit to actually enjoy what we were doing?
We might just enjoy our lives a little more. Would that be so awful?
What would happen if we set aside a specific time to just praise the Lord, to worship him, to close our prayer closet around us and just ask the Lord to work in us and through us? We could move mountains!
Let me give you a personal example, so that you know I’m not just speaking about something I’ve heard about…but definitely something I know first hand.
Last year I was faced with the greatest foe of my life, a person that was nothing less than pure evil. No one could help me deal with this person except for God. And I will tell you, he is truly all you need. I had no idea how the situation would resolve itself, but I prayed every night and fasted the evening meal for almost one year. At the end of that year, as I walked into what would be the most life-changing face-off I have ever encountered, I spoke the words God gave me…and won a victory so complete that those who heard what I had to say were so silent you could have heard a pin drop in the room. It was a total God moment.
And he will do the same for you. If you are facing a giant, pray about it. Set aside some time and ask God to go to bat for you. He is faithful to help us when we need him the most; and he can truly make a way for you when you cannot see how a victory is even remotely possible.
1 Corinthians 7:35, “And this I say for your own profit, not that I may put a leash on you, but for what is proper, and that you may serve the Lord without distraction.”
