Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
We have heard this verse (among others) so many times that sometimes we miss the full meaning. But have you ever stopped and thought about the depths of this verse?
God wants only good things for us. Perhaps it is our own foolish choices (or even the choices of those around us) that land us in hot water…but God is a fearless warrior for our betterment.
He wants us to have peace in all things. This means that the battle you are facing right now…He will fight it for you. You can have peace. If you are walking through the deepest, darkest valley you have ever trudged through…He will shine His light, the light of the world, to light your path. You can have peace. When tragedy strikes…you can have peace knowing that God sees you exactly where you are and He has a plan for you.
Sometimes we veer off course, and head down a path of destruction, thinking that our own choices are far better than anything God might have for us. But He is always faithful to pick us back up and bring us back to the place of perfect peace…resting beneath His sheltering wings.
If today you feel like the sun isn’t shining, it might not be God who landed you in your current state of affairs. It might have been the foolish choices of men (yours or those around you), but He says that if you will seek Him out, you can have peace no matter what the situation. He can weave the storm that is raging into the fabric of your life and when it’s all said and done, it will be a thing of incomparable beauty.
