Who I Am In Christ

Why do I need to know who I am in Christ?

I am so glad you asked.

I was born and raised in the church as a Preacher’s Kid, the forth child out of nine children. Walking in a straight narrow path isn’t easy for any kid in this sin-sick world. The pressure was real. Any Preacher’s Kid can relate to how hard it could be at times to live in the public eye. It was never an easy task for me having people watching your every move, what you wear, who you hang with, where you are at all times. Put on a happy face even when things are tough in and out side of the home. We are held up to a higher standard while others get a free pass.

Living to the expectation of others, fell in their judgement trap, their twisting and turning the word of God by taking the word out of context, mixing culture with church bylaws vs what the word God actually says. Just pleasing people instead of living the life God intended for me to live.

Over the years, my life has taken so many turns but I am so thankful for his grace and mercy on my life. I am grateful that I had an encounter with God earlier in life and I know who he is and his love for me is unconditional.

So, I’ve made a promise to myself a long time ago to never let go of God’s hands, to stay in his will, serve him with all my heart, use my gift and talents to serve others and to never let no one make me feel any less than what God sees me as and who he says I am. No one can’t tell me God is going love me less base on my past, present and future.

So this week, I’ve decided to go back in the scriptures.

Here what I found out. But first, do you know who you are in Christ?

You need to know who you are in Christ so that you can live your life as God intended and fulfill your destiny.

The truth is, the more you agree with God about your identity in Christ, the more your behaviour will begin to reflect your God given identity.

I encourage you to learn to see yourself as God sees you. I struggled with that.

God’s opinion is the one that counts. Accept what God says about you, agree with Him that it is true of you and become the spiritual person you are.

Understanding who you are in Christ
will give you a strong foundation to build your life on. Knowing who you are in Jesus is the key to a successful Christian life and a life lived ON purpose.

Your identity doesn’t depend on something you do or have done. Your true identity is who you are in Christ.

Once you choose to follow Jesus you become a new creation, the old you passes away and you become who you are in Him. Please stop living out of who other people say you are and take hold of the truth of God’s word. Find out what God says about you and agree with Him.

You need to know who you are in Christ so that you can know
what to do, when to do it, where to go, and how to do it

Who you are in Christ

Because you are in Christ, every one of these statements is true of you.

Simply choose to believe what God says about you.

“How can two walk together unless they agree?” Amos 3:3
Try reading the above list every day for a month, preferably out loud. The more you know who you are in Christ, the more your behaviour will reflect your true identity.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” Romans 12:2
To live an effective Christian life you need to know and believe who you are in Christ. Understanding your identity in Christ is crucial to your success.

The best way to renew your mind and experience inner transformation is by knowing, thinking and speaking who you are in Christ

Train yourself to say the same things that God says in His word. Become who you already are in Christ. God wants to do more in your life than you imagine.

Don’t let people’s compliments get in your head and don’t let their criticism get in your heart. Guard your heart…..Proverbs 4:23 It’s a trap! Don’t change who you are to make people like you. Their love is temporary. You need to know who you are in Christ so that you can live your life as God intended, live freely for and fulfill your destiny. When you walk in who you are – then you know who you’re not!!

Finding out who I am in a Christ once again was so worth it and it makes life worth living.

Peace, Love and Blessings!
